About Me & My Work
Alongside and interwoven into my permaculture work I have been an upland farmer, a specialist palliative care nurse, a Carer of elders and a creative. I’m currently living in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, England where I am a part time freelance creative and learning facilitator, while living with long term health challenges.
I started learning about permaculture in my early twenties as a way of finding positive ways to heal and regenerate Earth and her communities.
In 2011 I undertook a Permaculture Design Course (PDC) with the late Patrick Whitefield at Ragmans Farm, England and then in 2013 I completed a second PDC - Earth Activist Training - with Starhawk in Cazadero, California. In September 2015 I completed the Permaculture Association (Britain) Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. In the same year I completed a course run by Looby Macnamara and Peter Cow, in people focused permaculture design facilitation and I undertook training to become an assessment tutor for the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. I took a break from any paid permaculture teaching and facilitation work when I was unwell with acute and then chronic Lyme disease from 2017 - 2020. I started a permaculture related creative practice as part of my slow recovery from Lyme, and art has become the flow that grounds my permaculture work and life as I continue to navigate living with a long term illness. I completed a third PDC (specifically for creatives) with Liz Postlethwaite in 2024. I write regular articles and reviews for several publications, including Permaculture Magazine and the Permaculture Women Magazine.
